Weekend of Styling - Pt. Two

"In 1974, progressive rock band, "Gemini Rising," returned to the studio to begin work on their second album and were never heard from again...until now!"

Gemini Rising, Official Webby Awards Honoree

As I said in the last post, this weekend is shaping up to be a very, very busy two days. After Joe Hallman's photo shoot on Saturday, I'll be spending some time at Woodshop Films' studio in Northern Liberties where Gemini Rising is shooting their latest music video; "Starchild" and then I *may* be back on Sunday to finish things up with them. Gina Andreoli (Director, Co-writer, Production Designer and Creative mind) will be using me as an extra hand while I get a feel for doing wardrobe on set.
Gina's larger body of work can be found at her film company's website: Fugue Films, or at her blog. Episodes of Gemini Rising can be viewed at Koldcast.tv

Weekend of Styling - Pt. One

My friend, collaborator, and talented photographer RA Friedman (proprietor of the Tsirkus Fotografika) recently invited me to be the stylist for a promotional photo shoot he's working on for Composer Joseph Hallman. Exciting for me, because it's the first stylist offer I've had to date, and I have lots of creative flexibility.

In his own words, "Joe Hallman is a successful young Philadelphia composer who has had
the opportunity to work with some of today's most talented musicians
and artists. His works are becoming more frequently performed in
America and internationally. His generosity of collaboration and joy
for composing sets him apart from his peers."

Joe's EP and album can be found on itunes under "Joseph Hallman" and "gogreengo"
Have a listen to either his classical or experimental tunes on myspace, and be a fan on facebook!

I've written about RA before, but in the interest of ease, here's where to go if you want to see some of his work: The Flicker The Blog

Enjoy!

Gaian Mind Summer Festival Photos

Just a few more photos from the Festival...

Opening Ceremony

First Fire of the weekend

This guy caught a wild black rat snake...

Brought it down...

And tamed it to the point that it wrapped around his arm and sat there totally contented for the next half hour...

It was really too cloudy.

That's the closest we got.

Waiting for the sun to set

There it goes...

The drive home was GLORIOUS.

First Time Vending (and some swimsuit photos)

This weekend I attended the Gaian Mind Summer Festival for the third year in a row... second year being on crew, and as a first time vendor!

Mio did a beautiful job heading up the bazaar tent, and we all took turns on the 'sales floor'.

My clothing rack

More vendors' colorful items

A fellow vendor and customer (Bonnie and Xilla)

Gratuitous Swimsuit Photos
(or, the things I've made, sold, or am planning to make more of...)

apologies for the terribly unprofessional photos... I'll have new ones up soon.

Moving Things Around

Hello Boys and Girls...

this is just a test post, to see if the NEW WEBSITE is working properly and importing blog posts now!

If you are in the market for an amazingly easy, inexpensive design and hosting service for your domain, I highly recommend squarespace. I was able to reassemble my (formerly google page) website in just over two days without any pain or heartache.

For someone who just knows the basics of html, and has very little knowledge of anything else that goes into building websites, this is a fantastic wysiwyg OR html service.

I've chosen the $15/month option which allows me to use my own domain name, but the $8/month is also available to start out with, and provides you with a yournamehere.squarespace.com name.

If you look into this, and find that you liked it, and built something with it, please let me know! I'd love to see what you come up with.

New Sewing Machine?

So my nice, second-hand Singer (3343c) just petered out and decided to temporarily die, just as I was making some headway on some swimsuit designs. I'm annoyed. HOWEVER, I do have some extra money in the bank account, and Joanne Fabrics has a mini sale on a fantastic machine.

The Singer® Heavy Duty-110 10 Stitch Sewing Machine is gorgeous, hefty, and I've heard from a few people that they love it and have never had trouble with it. I'm drooling. The question is, order it now... or order it after I get back from the Gaian Mind Summer Festival? The next question is... do I get my 3343c tuned up and fixed, or do I mess with it myself and learn the inner workings of a Singer Machine? Hmmm... something to ponder. If you have any feedback, please comment! If you have one of these machines, I'd love to hear your point of view.
